Espresso Picture Frames
Almost black, but brown. It gives you the hard boundary Matte Black gives you without the coldness, which matters on a cream or warm-white wall, where a true black frame can read as a hole cut in the paint.
Wall frames from ₦12,000 · desk frames from ₦7,500
What it suits
Low-key portraits, night photography, and images where the subject is lit out of shadow — the frame continues the shadow rather than interrupting it. It also settles into a room of dark furniture, where a pale moulding would be the loudest thing in it.
What it sits beside
Walnut one step lighter, Matte Black one step colder, Cherry if you want a red note at the same depth.
Worth knowing
The bevel inside the moulding is nearly black, so at across-the-room distance this finish reads as black and only up close does it read as wood. Choose it when you want that second reading.
