What it suits
Landscapes and wide horizons, where a moulding crops into the very edges the picture is about. It also suits a grid — with no frames between them, a block of prints reads as one field rather than as a row of separate objects.

Classic White or Maple if you want two or three framed pieces among them. Matte Black when the grid needs one hard corner to anchor it.
Worth knowing
With no moulding there is nothing giving the image breathing room, which is where the printed border earns its keep: pick a width and one of ten colours in the editor and the margin is printed onto the paper itself. This is also what a picture box is filled with — loose prints, no frames, bundle-priced.
